About Edenvale

Located in the East Rand, Edenvale is part of Modderfontein. Known for its tranquil ambience, the town has a rich history and is sought after due to it's location between O.R Tambo International Airport and Johannesburg.

Edenvale came into being around the same time as the Rietforntein Mines. Initially the settlement was known as Rietfontein. In the 1900's, Cornish mineworkers moved into the area and it was remaned Edenvale. Since then, the town has grown into a tranquil and beautiful surburb.

It's location along major freeways makes it a convenient location for business and leisure travellers.  The town is also surrounded by attractions such as Eastgate and East Rand shopping malls, and  Glendowner Golf Club etc.

Edenvale's beauty, ambience and friendly culture sets it apart from hustle and bustle in the Johannesburg area, and yet it's convenient location attracts many guests. Bergliot Guest House is proud to be located in this area.

A little known fact is that the town of Modderfontein housed an ammunition factory during World War II.

Hotel Rwanda,  a Hollywood movie on the Rwandan Genocide, was shot in Modderfontein.
